As a Health Educator, Karen Slonim recently shared her reflections on leading Craving Change workshops:
“The Craving Change program wonderfully balances theory with practice in a meaningful way that really connects with clients. I find that the Eating under the Influence activity promotes rich conversation when used in a group. We are able to see where we share common beliefs and understand the drivers of behavior. The Just One Bite activity really connects with older adults. They are quickly able to see how belief influences action. Also, encouraging clients to reflect on the types of hunger and draw connections between thoughts and actions is huge. ”
“We have used the evaluations provided in the Craving Change program. I find it’s helpful to have a reminder that different strategies connect with different clients. It can sometimes feel overwhelming to review so many different approaches in a group setting and one can have the urge to pair down the content. The evaluation responses remind instructors that their own experience (both personally and professionally) does not reflect everyone.”
