Pair & Share to Foster Relationships

Posted: May 9, 2018

Joyce Schnetzler, Registered Dietitian with Island Health, recently shared an outline of how she uses the ‘Pair and Share’ guidelines found in the online Resource Library in her Craving Change® workshops:

In the 3rd or 4th week of Craving Change® I will incorporate the ‘Pair and Share’ exercise to foster relationships and encourage all participants to consider the following questions:

 1. Did they try a self-awareness strategy or change strategy?
2. Did they use a section in their workbook or a specific worksheet?
3. What did they learn? Did they notice any change in their eating?
4. Was there anything that didn’t work or that they found challenging?

This ‘you are not alone’ approach in the program strikes a strong chord with most participants. Joyce reports that participants consistently provide positive feedback on their workshop evaluations and request follow-up sessions – a sure sign that Joyce has helped the participants develop a level of trust and camaraderie with each other.
