The Craving Change program can be challenging to describe to clients and colleagues. Providing an experiential, program ‘teaser’ can promote client self-enrolment in your workshops and increase referrals from other health care providers. Thanks to Jocelyn Zurbrigg, Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Educator, for sharing her initiative:
“I presented to a group of colleagues (counsellors and social workers) at the indigenous health access centre in which I work. The attendees expressed an interest in problematic eating change for both themselves and with their clients. They will likely be referral sources for my programs so I felt it was important that they were aware of the type of information discussed. The session was experiential and interactive. Lots of “similar stories” from childhood were shared that shaped their current relationship with food. Each participant was asked to identify one personal trigger for problematic eating and consider an option from the Change Buffet strategies to try.”
